Virginia

Virginia is a key element for many types of pipe tobacco. It is a tobacco dried with hot air, known for its higher natural sugar content, which makes the flavor sweeter, brighter, and livelier than other types of leaf. Typical are tones of hay, citrus, baked goods, sometimes darker fruits or caramel depending on the specific cut and degree of aging. Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake

Compared to milder and lighter Virginias, Samuel Gawith Full Virginia Flake is more bread-like and has a very rich tobacco flavor. It burns slowly and often needs a little drying out after opening. For many smokers, it is the reference ripe Virginia, although it can be more demanding to smoke.

Capstan Original Flake Blue

In Balkan mixtures, the flavor is most prominently characterized by Oriental tobacco (spicy, dry, and sometimes incense-like flavor), which rather complements Latakia and thus creates a more complex profile.
